Tara Nepal

Tara is a former Bhutanese refugee who spent 18 years living in a refugee camp in Eastern Nepal. After earning a bachelor's degree in humanities and social sciences, he became a schoolteacher. Upon moving to the United States, Tara engaged with local refugee communities in Phoenix and eventually became their leader. He furthered his education by earning a diploma as a medical assistant and completing training in interpretation for various settings.

Tara began his career at the International Rescue Committee in Phoenix in 2010, where he held several direct service roles before being promoted to Resettlement Manager. He currently works as the Epidemiology Program Coordinator at the University of Iowa, serving Central and Western Iowa.

Tara has contributed to the Refugee Voices project and participated in the Refugee Voices Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. He is also a graduate of the New American Speakers Program through WeaveTales. Dedicated to humanitarian efforts, Tara aims to positively impact the lives of refugees and vulnerable populations.
